McDonald’s sixth place paces ELC at Wartburg

WAVERLY - The Estherville Lincoln Central Boys Track Team saw its first action of the season at an indoor meet at Wartburg College on Tuesday.

ELC coach Dick Barrett said there were 40 to 64 entries in each event.

Myles McDonald led ELC with a sixth-place finish in the 55-meter dash in 6.88 seconds.

McDonald is ELC's lone returning state qualifier from a year ago.

Also, Brian Egeland placed 16th in the shot put with a throw of 39 feet, 3 inches, Briar Rowley finished 12th in the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 3 inches.

Kevin Dong ran two events and placed 13th in the 1600-meter run in 5 minutes, 4 seconds. He also was second in his 800-meter heat in 2:16.

Rowley ran a time of 56.8 seconds in the 400. Evan Olesen ran the 200-meter dash in 25.8 seconds and the 55-meter dash in 7.03 seconds.

ELC travels to the Lakes Conference Indoor Meet in Storm Lake next Tuesday, March 14.
