GT/RA 62, St. Mary, Storm Lake 36 Titans pull away from Panthers

Hosts outscore visitors 38-15 in second half

GRAETTINGER - After getting St. Mary, Storm Lake's big man into foul trouble, Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire was able to get to the basket more in the second half on Tuesday on the way to a 62-36 win over the Panthers.

GT/RA had jumped out to a 7-2 lead early in the game. However, St. Mary scored the final seven points of the quarter, capped Chakouthchok Malou's 3-pointer with 35 seconds on the clock, to take a 9-7 lead.

The visitors held on to the lead in the second quarter until GT/RA senior Brady Rosacker heated up from the 3-point line. His first trey tied the game at 17-17 with his second giving the Titans a 20-19 advantage. The Panthers came back to tie the game at 21-21, but Rosacker's third trey gave the home team a 24-21 lead at the break.

The Titans' had attacked Will Hurd, St. Mary's 6-10 center throughout the first half and Hurd picked up his third foul with just over a minute remaining.

In the third quarter, the Titans continued their attack, outscoring the visitors 19-9 in the third quarter and 19-6 in the final frame.

Hurd finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.

Tom Geelan led GT/RA with 14 points while Jacob Conlon finished with 13 points, six rebounds, six assists and five steals. Rosacker had 11 points, seven rebounds and six assists while Tyson Kruse had 10 points and nine boards. Chris Conlon contributed eight points, Kadin Norris had four and Shea Royster had two.

GT/RA (10-5 overall, 6-2 in the Twin Lakes Conference) travels to Burnside on Friday to take on Southeast Valley.
