Free throw shooting dooms A-R

By Staff | Dec 11, 2007

ARMSTRONG — A dismal night at the free throw line was one of the factors in Armstrong-Ringsted’s 52-44 loss to Clay Central-Everly on Friday.

After trailing 18-9 after one quarter, A-R held the Mavericks to just three points in the second quarter and led 25-21 at halftime.

CCE came back to take a 38-35 lead to start the final frame.

The Mustangs were 15-34 from the free throw line with the lone bright spot, Brett Tigges, who was 12-16.

He led A-R with 27 points and eight rebounds.

“Clay Central Everly is one of the top teams in the West Division and for 3 /1 quarters we took them out of their game,” said A-R coach George Walker. “But a few youthful mistakes and free throws hurt us.”

A-R (0-3) hosts Graettinger/Terril on Friday.
