Knights unable to hang on against Raiders

By Staff | Dec 12, 2007

RUTHVEN — The Graettinger/Terril girls basketball team had a five-point lead midway through the third quarter, but foul trouble and excellent free throw shooting by Ruthven-Ayrshire helped the Raiders steal a 39-32 win on Tuesday.

“Our defense played hard, but our offensive shooting percentage was low” said G/T co-coach Roger Conway. “We had a five-point lead in the fourth quarter but were unable to maintain it.”

The Knights trailed 9-6 after one quarter, but led 14-13 at halftime and 24-22 to start the fourth period. Ruthven-Ayrshire made 11-of-12 free throw in the final frame and 20-of-25 for the game.

The Knights were led by Theresa Petersen with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Malorie Girres scored eight.
