Raiders 61, Knights 41

RUTHVEN — The Graettinger/Terril boys basketball team couldn’t keep pace with Ruthven-Ayrshire on the Raiders’ home floor on Tuesday.

Although the Knights trimmed a double digit lead to nine in the third quarter, R-A pulled away for a 62-41 victory.

“R-A is a tough team. They really gave us trouble on both offense and defense,” said G/T coach Brent Dyhrkopp. “We did hustle and looked good at times.”

The Knights trailed 15-8 after one quarter, 29-19 at halftime and 49-32 after three quarters.

G/T was led by Tyler Leiting with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Cody Dyhrkopp contributed nine points and four assists while Dalton Perrin had eight points and 11 rebounds.

G/T (1-4) hosts Laurens-Marathon today.

No. 6 Indians 48, No. 3 Tigers 42

SPIRIT LAKE — While it may seem like Spirit Lake is a two-person team at times with Kaisha Brown and Amber Kirschbaum doing most of the scoring, the No. 6 Indians put together a team effort to upst No. 3 Spencer 48-42 on Tuesday.

While Kirschbaum had 16 points and eight rebounds and Kaisha had 12 points, two free throws by Mary Brown helped seal the win in the closing seconds.

Chelsie Stettnichs also had eight points and Caila Jones also had a key basket in the fourth quarter and ended the night with six points.

Spirit Laked led 14-12 afer one quarter, 27-22 at halftime and 33-32 after three quarters.

Spirit Lake (5-0, 3-0) hosts Cherokee on Friday.



No. 9 Spencer 73, Spirit Lake 61

SPIRIT LAKE — Trailing 60-39 to start the fourth quarter, the Spirit Lake boys basketball team put together a 14-0 run to put a scare in No. 9 Spencer. The Tigers hung on though to preserve a 73-61 victory.

Spencer jumped out to a 26-12 lead after one quarter and led 48-26 at halftime, shooting 67 percent from the field in the first half.

Andy Pringnitz led the Indians in five categories with 16 points, 11 rebounds, five steals, four assists and four blocked shots. Tyler Solsma had 13 points and Mason Bergquist tossed in 12 points.

Spirit Lake (2-2, 0-2) hosts Cherokee on Friday.
