ARMSTRONG — In a game in which Armstrong-Ringsted committed 37 fouls, the Mustangs still had chances to win against Woden-Crystal Lake-Titonka on Friday.

The Mustangs trailed by four points with 1:30 remaining, but the Tigers closed out the 71-61- victory.

“We played hard-nosed pressure defense and tried to limit their No. 1 scorer,” said A-R coach George Walker.

While the Mustangs held Derek Haugland to just 15 points, Matt Swingen stepped up to score 36 points.

A-R trailed 14-9 after one quarter, 29-17 at halftime and 41-35 to start the final frame where both teams scored in bunches.

The Mustangs were led by Brett Tigges with 17 points while Dillion McBride had 14 and Elliott Kinnander had 10.

Hantelman and Kinnander each had six rebounds while Tonderum had four steals and three assists.

A-R (0-9, 0-7) hosts Harris-Lake Park on Tuesday.
