G/T wrestles best at confernce tournament – Tatman, Jensen, Hoffman, McGrauth win titles
FARNHAMVILLE — The Graettinger/Terril wrestling team crowned four champions at the Northwest and Twin Lakes Conference Tournament on Saturday.
With only 10 wrestlers competing, the Knights finished fourth overall, but still had the most champions.
“That’s the best we’ve wrestled all season,” said G/T coach Cody Alesch. “The kids have really picked up the intensity in practice the last week and it paid off.”
All 10 Knights earned a place in the 12-team tournament.
Winning titles were James Tatman (103), Michael Jensen (135), Jake Hoffman (189) and Joel McGrauth (215).
Tatman, who was 2-0 in the tournament, has yet to lose this season. Hoffman also was 2-0 while Jensen and McGrauth were 3-0.
Kyle Brown (285) had the lone second place finish as he went 2-1.
Placing fifth were Logan Tonderum (140) and Josh Anderson (171), who both posted 2-2 records.
Taylor Harris (145) went 1-3 to place sixth and Heath Marchand also was sixth with a 2-3 record.
The Knights host Sioux Central and Humboldt today.
