Indians earn first win at Sheldon since 1997

SHELDON — Spirit Lake and Sheldon were tied at 18-18 at halftime, 29-29 after three quarters and 43-43 at the end of regulation before the Indians outscored the Orabs 9-4 in overtime for a 52-47 win on Tuesday.

The Indians started slowly, trailing 9-2 after one quarter of play before erupting for 16 points in the second quarter.

Tyler Solsma led Spirit Lake with 12 points and nine rebounds while Scott Maudlin had 11 points and Andy Pringnitz had 10 points and 16 rebounds. The Indians won the game at the free throw line where they were 15-of-19 while Sheldon was just 3-of-6. Spirit Lake also out-rebounded their hosts 41-30.

It was the Indians first win in Sheldon since 1997.

Spirit Lake (10-3, 5-3) hosts LeMars on Friday.
