Knights win pair of duals at home
GRAETTINGER — The Graettinger/Terril wrestling team picked up two non-conference dual wins on Tuesday. The Knights beat Humboldt 39-36 and defeated Sioux Central 39-18.
“We knew we would have to come out and get falls whenever we could with a few guys out of the lineup,” said G/T coach Cody Alesch. “We were able to do that and get a couple of dual wins.”
Against Humboldt, both teams received three forfeits with both teams open at 119 and 160. That left the match determined by the six contested matches with the Knights winning four of them.
G/T came away with three pins. At 103, James Tatman had the quickest match, pinning Alex Zinnel in 13 seconds. Also Josh Anderson (171) pinned Nat Moser in 3:00 and Kyle Brown (285) pinned Cody Boge in 2:32. Joel McGrauth (215) went the full six minutes with a 6-3 decision over Alex Osborn.
In other contested matches, Ryan Schany (112) lost by fall to Tre Rutz in 52 seconds and Heath Marchand (145) lost by fall to Luke Kolengrin in 1:09.
Jake Hoffman (189), Michael Jensen (135) and Logan Tonderum (140) received forfeits.
Against Sioux Central, the Knights won six of the eight contested matches with four pins.
Hoffman pinned Hunter Amundson in 50 seconds; McGrauth pinned Chris Sievers in 14 seconds; Brown pinned Matt Heflin in 33 seconds and Ryan Schany pinned Dominick Amendobore in 3:54.
Also, Jensen won by technical fall, 18-2, over Antenin Bandoma and Tonderum won by major decision, 14-3, over Trevor Pritchard.
Tatman and Kass Schany (160) received forfeits.
In other matches, Marchand lost by fall to Cody Strand in 22 seconds and Anderson lost by fall to Marshall Wernimont in 3:47.
