Midgets drop pair of duals at Sheldon – Christensen, Howard both post 2-0 records

SHELDON — The Estherville Lincoln Central wrestling team didn’t fare well in two Lakes Conference duals on Thursday.

ELC lost 46-14 to host Sheldon and 60-21 to Storm Lake.

Joel Christensen and Nate Howard both were undefeated on the night.

At 130, Christensen pinned Sheldon’s tyler Drenkow in 5:23 and then won 13-11 over Storm Lake’s Jose Diaz.

Howard (160) pinned Storm Lake’s Geno Hutchinson in 4:48 and received a forfeit from Sheldon.

Ryan Kaltved picked up a win at 135 pounds as he beat Sheldon’s Andrew Koehlmoos 5-4.

Austin Greig (112) and Spenser Schichtl (189) both had pins against Storm Lake. Greig pinned Miguel Rodriguez in 4:47 and Schichtl won in 50 seconds over Jake Larson.

In other Sheldon matches, Greig lost by fall in 3:11 to Chris Helm; Nathan Spoo (119) lost by fall to Mike Faust in 5:12; Seth Shatto (140) lost by technical fall, 15-0 to Kurt Druger; Tyson Enderson (145) lost by fall to Dan Ridenaur in 3:17; Schichtl (189) lost by technical fall, 18-3,l to Josh Ihnen; DJ Clinton (215) lost by fall to Pete Matthews in 42 seconds.

Against Storm Lake, Spoo lost by fall in 1:02 to Chris Rios; Kaltved lost by fall to Michale Mohr in 4:30; Shatto lost by fall to Pat Higgins in 1:13; Enerson lost by fall to Ryan Loustand in 1:53; Clinton lost by fall to Juan Flors in 3:16.

ELC returns to action next Tuesday at home with Cherokee and Spencer.
