Indians place first at BCIG tourney -Four SLP wrestlers win respective brackets
BATTLE CREEK — The Spirit Lake Park wrestlers upped the intensity in day two of the Battle Creek-Ida Grove Tournament on Saturday. In fourth place on Friday, the Indians came away with four top finishes and vaulted to first place.
SLP finished with 150 points with Akron-Westfield placing second with 141 followed by Twin River Valley with 129 points in the 21-team tournament.
At 130 pounds, Dillon Miner was named outstanding wrestler of the tournament. He, along with brother Derrick Miner (125), Grant Willard (135) and Alex Will (215) took first place in their respective weight brackets.
Also, Lewis Johnson (103) placed fourth and Brad Engel (189) placed fifth, while Nick Schultze (152) and Brett Goldtrap both placed eighth.
