ARMSTRONG — The Armstrong-Ringsted girls basketball team was looking to knock rival North Sentral Kossuth out of the ratings for the second straight time this season.

In the two teams’ first meeting, NSK was rated in the top 15 in Class 1A and the loss to A-R sent them out of the standings.

“We came out and dominated for 2 1/2 quarters. Midway through the third, we failed to keep attacking,” said A-R coach Steve Waldstein. “Then we just went cold in the fourth quarter,. We were two of 14 from the floor in the fourth.”

The Mustangs came out ready, taking a 20-11 lead in the first quarter and leading 32-21 at halftime. When A-R stopped attacking in the third quarter, NSK started hitting shots and cut the deficit to five, 47-42, to start the final period.
