By Staff | Feb 14, 2008

DES MOINES — While Spirit Lake Park still has three wrestlers in the championship round, the first day of Class 2A action was hard on the Indians as they lost two wrestlers.

Top-rated Dillon Miner (130) and brother Derrick (125) both won their opening matches as did Alex Will (215).

However Lewis Johnson (112) and Grant Willard lost two matches as their seasons come to an end.

Derrick Miner opened his tournament run by pinning ADM’s Dakota Friesth in 5:09.

Dillon also won easily, pinning New Hampton’s Craig Mai in 1:57.

Alex Will shut out North Cedar Standwood’s James Kost 7-0./

At 112, Johnson had a tough draw as he lost 14-0 to West Central Valley Stuart’s Kendall David 14-0 and then was pinned in 1:06 by Maquoketa’s Marcus Breeden.

Willard’s day as the most disappointing of all as he lost both matches by a point–first to Carl Saxon of Camanche, 3-2 and then to Saydel’s Kyle Bozman, 4-3.
