Iowa Lakes frustrated by Eagles

By Staff | Feb 19, 2008

CEDAR RAPIDS — Iowa Lakes’ second meeting with Kirkwood this season didn’t go any better than the first.

The Lakers fell behind 44-27 at halftime and lost 80-59 to the No. 2 Eagles on Saturday.

Iowa Lakes head coach Troy Larson said he could basically use the same comments from the first time they played.

“I was disappointed in how we played and performed,” he said. “They just beat us in ever phase of the game. They were quicker to the ball and defended harder.”

The coach said he was frustrated with his team.

“Outside of a couple of guys, I didn’t feel we fought them,” he said.

Iowa Lakes had a solid night from Mike Betz, who was 7-of-10 from the field and had 16 points.

Jimmie Marshall also reached double digits with 12 points and Mitch Bain had nine.

Iowa Lakes did out-rebound the Eagles, 39-38, led by Jackson Parr with 13 boards.

Iowa Lakes (19-7, 8-3) returns to action Wednesday at home against Iowa Central.
