Lakers pound out hits in first wins
VENICE, Fla. — The Iowa Lakes Community College baseball team began its spring trip with three straight victories.
The Lakers pounded out 15 hits including three home runs by Andru Kuilan–one a grand slam–in a 16-3 win over St. Clair Community.
Iowa Lakes held off Itasca in the first game of a double header, 10-9 and did the same in an 8-6 victory in game two.
Against St. Clair Community, Kuilan was 4-4. Besides the three home runs, he had a single and seven RBIs.
Three other Lakers also hit one over the fence. Abdiel Lebron was 3-4 with a home run, a double, a single and three RBIs; Brian Bravo was 1-1 with a home run and two RBIs; and Jose Andina was 1-1 with a home run, a stolen base, three runs scored and two RBI.
Ivan Rodriguez earned the win on the mound.
In game one versus Itasca Edgardo Aulet was 2-4 with a double a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs. Adalberto Rivera was 1-3 with a home run and two RBIs.
Ricardo Navarro earned the win while Victor Morales earned the save.
In game two versus Itasca, the Lakers pounded out 13 hits led by Lebron, who was 3-4 with one double. Aulet was 3-4 and Moran was 2-3 with a double and three RBIs.
Kenny Tomek earned the win with Fabian Cruz picking up the save.
The Lakers return to action today at 9:30 a.m. versus Fergus Falls Community College.
