Lakers rout Bethel
CLERMONT, Fla — The Iowa Lakes softball team finished up its spring trip schedule on Friday with a pair of contests against the Bethel University JV.
The Lakers’ bats were alive throughout as Iowa Lakes took game one 18-1 and game two 34-2.
The 34 runs were an Iowa Lakes single game record and the Lakers notched their 20th win of the season.
Game one was decided early as Iowa Lakes scored five in the first inning and nine more in the second to take a 14-0 lead.
Aly Bowers pitched a perfect three innings to get the win and move her record to 12-1.
Stephanie Ochoa 2-3 with two RBIs, Andy Hacker 2-2 with two RBIs, Sarah Dockter 2-3 with two RBIs and Brittany Brohmer 2-2 with an RBI. Seven other Lakers had hits in the game.
Game two saw Iowa Lakes send 28 batters to the plate in the first inning and score a record 23 runs in the top of the first inning.
The Lakers tacked on nine more in the fourth and two more in the fifth to make the final 34-2.
Lauren Smith pitched the first four innings to get the win with Jamie Sorensen pitching the final inning.
Seventeen different Lakers had hits in the game with Camiel Salcedo going 3-3 with an RBI, Andy Hacker 2-3 with an RBI, Devin Bennett 3-4, Stephanie Ochoa 3-3 with three RBIs, Sarah Dockter 2-4 with two RBis, Michelle McKenna 2-2 with two RBIs, Kimmie White 2-3 with three RBIs, Aly Cloud 3-5 with six RBIs, Caiti Block 2-3 with three RBIs, Aly Bowers 3-3 with five RBIs and Erica Klinksick 3-6 with two RBIs.
Iowa Lakes improves to 20-3 on the season and will open up conference play on Wednesday when they travel to Iowa Falls to play Ellsworth.
