D-med paces ELC girls at Cherokee

CHEROKEE — The Estherville Lincoln Central girls distance medley team highlighted the Midgettes’ performance at Cherokee on Friday.

The quaret of Taylar Jacobson, Brenna Wegner, Landra Lapka and Emily Jensen took first in 4 minutes, 29 seconds.

“They’re ahead of where I thought we’d be at this time,” said ELC co-coach Brian Williams. “We just need to continue to improve.”

The same quartet finished second in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 4:25.

ELC also came away with two third place finishes as Brittany Ross ran the 1500-meter run in 5:18 and Brooke Egeland finished the 3,000-meter run in 12 minutes even.

“It was good to get in a nnight of racing in,” said Williams.

ELC travels to the Spirit Lake Co-ed on Tuesday.
