Super Pee Wee Matmen compete at state
WATERLOO — The 2007-08 K-2 wrestling season is completed by Estherville Lincoln Central grapplers. March 21-22, the ELC Youth Wrestling Club had five local athletes compete at the Super PeeWee State Wrestling Tournament in Waterloo. It was a large field complete with fierce wrestling action by young men from around the state.
Competing on Friday were second graders Isaac Johnson with a season record of 32-14 with 27 pins who placed eighth out of 12 (1-2 state record) and Riley Jurries was 11-2 (0-2 state record) placed ninth out of nine.
On Saturday, the kindergarten and first graders took to the mat. First grader Jason Peta took seventh place honors out of eight with a season record of 19-7 complete with 11 pins (1-2 state record). Kindergartners included Domonick Roskam with a season record of 24-5 including 16 pins (1-2 state record). He took ninth out of 15. Weston Ruden had a season record of 25-15 including 16 pins (2-2 state record) and also received ninth place out of 22 competitors.
