ELC girls run at Godfredsen Relays
ARMSTRONG — Injuries haven’t helped the Estherville Lincoln Central girls track team this season, but the Midgettes still had a few solid performances at the Jim Godfredsen Relays in Armstrong on Monday.
ELC scored 60 points in the Class A field.
“We’re dealing with a lot of injuries so we’re stretching our veteran runners thin,” said ELC coach Tina Burton. “We need to get girls healthy.
“The underclassmen are stepping up and trying to help us get some team points which is nice to see.”
ELC’s best finish came from Emily Jensen who won the 400-meter dash in 62 seconds even.
Jensen also anchored the third-place sprint medley team of Taylar Jacobson, Brenna Wegner and Landra Lapka, which finished in 2 minutes.
ELC had a pair of second place finishes.
Brooke Egeland finished the 300-meter run in 11:59 while the distance medley team of Ashley Weston, Noelle Hecht, Molly Wittmer and Halli Winter clocked a time of 5:07.
ELC’s 4×800-meter relay team also finished third in 10:57. That foursome included Jacobson, Wegner, Lapka and Ashley Weston.
Christina Weston picked up points in the throwing events, placing fourth in the shot put with a throw of 33 feet, 7 inches and fifth in the discus with a toss of 84 feet, 9 1/2 inches.
