Lakers win two on the road at Iowa Falls
IOWA FALLS — Iowa Lakes took the road again on Tuesday to face Region XI foe Ellsworth and the Lakers ended up on top in both games 8-0 in game one and 13-1 in game two.
Iowa Lakes broke out on top in game one in the first with RBI singles by Kristina Manser and Kimmie White to take a 2-0 lead. It remained that way until the fifth when the Lakers used five hits to push four runs accross and take a 6-0 lead. RBIs by Aly Cloud and Camiel Salcedo in the sixth made it 8-0 and sophomore Aly Bowers closed the door and the Panthers with a 1-2-3 to end the game by the eight run rule.
Bowers only allowed four hits in winning her 23 game of the season. Salcedo was 3-4, White 3-3 with two RBIs, Andy Hacker 2-4 and Brittany Brohmer 2-3.
Iowa Lakes opened up game two with a first inning run with Hacker scoring on an RBI double by Stephanie Ochoa. Ellsworth tied it in the bottom of the first, but a two run home run by Emily Reimers made the score 3-1 after two inning of play. Iowa Lakes then erupted for ten runs in fourth, sending thirteen batters to the plate highlighted by Aly Cloud’s two run home run and a two RBI double by Salcedo. Freshman
Lauren Smith pitched five innings of three hit ball to get her 12th win of season.
Cloud was 3-3 with two RBIs, Reimers 2-2 with two RBIs, White 2-3 with one RBI, Ochoa 2-4 with two RBIs, and Salcedo 2-4 with two RBIs.
Iowa Lakes is now 39-7 on the season and 13-3 in Region play. Iowa Lakes traveled to Mason City on Wednesday to face NIACC.
