SLP girls win second straight meet

SPENCER — The Spirit Lake Park girls track team won its second straight meet with its win at the Spencer Invitational on Tuesday.

The Indians scored 191 points with Spencer a distance second with 115 followed by Sheldon with 82, LeMars with 59, Clay Central-Everly with 39, South-O’Brien with 36, ELC with 34 and West Bend-Mallard/Twin River Valley with 26.

SLP won 12 events.

The Indians were again strong in the field events.

In the shot put, Jen Kirschbaum was first with a throw of 36 feet, 5 inches and Amber Kirschbaum was fourth with a throw of 34 feet, 4 1/4 inches. Amber won the discus with a throw of 21 feet, 5 1/2 inches while Jen finished fourth with a toss of 98 feet, 6 inches.

In the long jump, Laura Rowe finished third with a leap of 14 feet, 9 1/4 inches.

The Indians won six of the seven relays.

The quartet of Mary Brown, Carrie Emgarten, Kaisha Brown and Briana Brunsvold clocked in at 10 minutes, 56.68 seconds; the distance medley team of Alex Horsman, Caila Jones, kaisha Brown and Emgarten finished in 4:49.50; the 4×200-meter relay team of Megan Lawler, Kylie Ingvall and Horsman finished in 1:54.47; the sprint medley team of Horsman, Kylie Ingvall, Lawler and Deni Peters finished in 1:58.72; the 4×100 of Megan Ingvall, Kylie Ingvall, Jessica Wallace and Lawler finished in 53.32 seconds; and the 4×400 relay team of Horsman, Peters, McKenzie Dziedzic and Rowe finished in 4:27.18.

The Indians other relay, the shuttle hurdle team, finished second in 75.31 seconds. That team includes Kylie Sebert, Laura Rowe, Bryanna Gath and Kori Heidebrink.

The Indians finished 1-2 in both the 100-meter dash and the 400-meter hurdles.

in the 100, Lawler won in 12.37 seconds with Kylie Ingvall right behind in 12.64 seconds. In the 400, Amber Kirschbaum won in 75.74 seconds while Sebert finished in 76.99 seconds.

The Indians went 1-4 in the 1500-meter run with Emgarten winning in 5:39.59 and Hanson placing fourth in 5:51.84.

In the 400-meter dash, Peters finished second in 63.86 seconds with Dziedzic in fifth in 66.61 seconds.

In the 800-meter run, Kaisha Brown took second in 2:35.62 while Mary Brown was third in 2:42.47.

SLP went 5-6 in the 100-meter hurdles with Sebert finishing in 17.17 seconds and Sammy Spies in 17.34 seconds. Dziedzic added a sixth-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 29.88 seconds.
