ELC golfers playing better

OKOBOJI — Witha score of 180, the Estheville Lincoln Central boys golf team improved 21 strokes from its first outing on Monday.

However, it still wasn’t quite enough to catch Spirit Lake or Sheldon in a Lakes Confrence triangular on Thursday at Brooks Golf Course.

Led by mdalist Jack Lorch with a 36, the Indians won with a 163 with Sheldon coming in second with a 176.

ELC was led by Nathan Spoo with a 42 while Matt Brown carded a 44 and Tyler Lutz and Matt Anderson each shot 47s.

Non-counting scores were a 48 from Mat Radig and a 51 by Travis Kilpatrick.

Rounding out Spirit Lake’s scores, Matt Weeks and Casey Early shot 41s while Andrew Ingvalson carded a 45.

Non-counting scores were a 46 by Alex Will and a 49 from Blake Bonnicksen.

Both ELC and Spirit Lake are back in action at Brooks Golf Course on Saturday at the Iowa Great Lakes Invitational.

In junior varsity action, Spirit Lake won with a 189 followed by Sheldon with a 190 and ELC with a 200.

For the Midgtes, Tyson Eggers shot a 47, Braxton Dahl a 50, Mike Gebel a 51 and Caleb Caboth a 52.

Non-counting scores were a 56 by Tyson Enerson and a 60 by Austin Swalve.
