Western Christian shuts out SLPO

LAKE PARK — The Spirit Lake Park/Okoboji girls soccer team was shut out by Western Christian 3-0, but it didn’t deter the coach’s praise for the effort.

“Our girls played really well,” said SLPO coach Yvonne Taylor. “Libby Rodawig was awesome in goal. She had nine saves and put us on the attack a lot.”

Also, Shelby Rohlf, Jenna Miller and Ellie Hoover each had one shot on goal.

“We played most of the game in the attacking end of the field. We just need to developed a rhythm between our stikers and midfielders so we can capitalize on our opportunities,” said Taylor.

SLPO travels to Storm Lake on Monday.

“This team has become a rival team as we are the two newest teams in Northwest Iowa and have a record of 1-1 in regular season play,” said Taylor.
