Midgets struggle at Lakes Invite

OKOBOJI — The Estherville Lincoln Central and Spirit Lake boys golf teams were at the 2008 Lakes Invitational on Saturday.

Spencer won the tournament with a 306 and swept medalist honors with Jay Monahan winning with a 72 and Craig Cunningham runnerup with a 75.

Emmetsburg took second with a 339 followed by Okoboji with 340, LeMars with 341, Spirit Lake with 345 and ELC with 375.

Nathan Spoo led ELC with an 86 while Matt Anderson carded a 94, Matt Brown a 96 and Travis Kilpatrick a 99.

Non-counting scores were a 101 by Mat Radig and a 104 from Tyler Lutz.

Spirit Lake was led by Matt Weeks with an 80 followed by Jack Lorch with an 82. jack Johnson shot a 90 and Andrew Ingvalson had a 93 to round out the scoring.

Non-counting scores were a 96 from Casey Early and a 99 by Black Bonnicksen.

In the B Division of the tournament, Graettinger/Terril finished tied for third.

Martin County West won with a 345 followed by Harris-Lake Park with a 370.

Graettinger/Terril and Spirit Lake B team each shot a 384.

The Knights were led by Jack Hoffman with an 83. Cody Dyhrkopp shot a 97 while James Tatman had a 99 and Kyle Hartman a 105 to round out the scoring.

Non-counting scores were a 109 from Kass Schany and a 113 from Drew Skattebo.
