Iowa Lakes takes third in BVU Invitational
STORM LAKE — Taking on a bunch of four-year schools, the Iowa Lakes men’s golf team finished in a very respectable third place in the Buena Vista Spring Invitational this past weekend.
The Lakers were in fourth place after play at the Spencer Golf Course on Friday. Changing venue to the Lake Creek Golf Course in Storm Lake, Iowa Lakes knocked 16 strokes off its previous day score for a 300 to move into third place in the 17-team field.
Andy Soper and Nick Christensen shot identical scores of 152. Both opened play with a 77 at Spencer followed by a 75 at Storm Lake. The duo finished tied for 11th individually.
Ross Froehlich made the biggest move for the Lakers. After shooting an 82 on Friday, he came in with a 74 on Saturday for a 156.
Rounding out the scoring, Tom Thompson also cut six strokes off his 82 on Friday with a 76 on Saturday for a 158.
Non-counting score was a 163 by Max Koster who had a two-day total of 163 after rounds of 80 and 83.
