ELC boys fall to Cherokee
CHEROKEE — The Estherville Lincoln Central boys tennis team didn’t fare much better in the second go-around against Cherokee on Tuesday.
The Braves swept ELC 9-0 for the second time this season.
In singles play, Tyler Halstead lost 10-2 to Cole Egger; Jim Mohler lost 10-2 to Kyle Ruehle; Joe Woodward lost 10-0 to Cole Renken; Phil Leffel lost 10-2 to Tom Wilson; Adam Mustard lost 10-5 to Daniel Feser and Seth Origer lost 10-0 to Nick Parker.
In doubles play, Halstead and Mohler lost 10-2 to Egger and Ruehle; Woodward and Leffel lost 10-4 to Renken and Parker and Mustard and Origer lost 10-5 to Wilson and Feser.
ELC’s junior varsity picked up a couple wins as Kevin Kuemper won 8-6 at the No. 6 singles and Kuemper and Matt Hansen won 8-4 in doubles.
In other singles matches, Tom Markeson lost 8-1, Cody Jackson lost 8-2, Roger Breaman lost 8-0, Nate Jensen lost 8-4 and Matt Hansen lost 9-8 (10-8).
