Tornadoes sweep through Midgets
STORM LAKE — The Estherville Lincoln Central boys tennis team was swept by Storm Lake in Lakes Conference play on Thursday.
In singles action, Tyler Halstead lost 10-2 to Jesse Munger; Jim Mohler lost 10-1 to Erick Stephas; Joe Woodward lost 10-0 to Taylor Anderson; Phil Leffel lost 10-2 to Jeremy Boese; Adam Mustard lost 10-3 to Will Hansen; and Seth Origer lost 10-3 to Cory Nelson.
In doubles play, Halstead and Mohler lost 10-2 to Munger and Stephas; Woodward and Leffel lost 10-0 to Anderson and Boese; and Mustard and Origer lost 10-3 to Hansen and Nelsen.
The ELC junior varsity also lost 9-0.
In singles play, Adam Gellart lost 8-0, Tom Markeson lost 8-5, Cody Jackson lost 8-1, Roger Breman lost 8-1, Nate Jensen lost 8-6, and Matt Hansen lost 8-2.
In doubles, Jackson and Breaman lost 8-0, Gellart and Hansen lost 5-0 and Jensen and Kevin Kuemper lost 8-2.
ELC picked up three wins in exhibition play.
Andrew Schmidt and Josh Keeler won 2-0 (6-3, 4-1); Aaron Lindell and Riley Edwards won 21- (6-0, 4-6, 6-5) and Riley Curry and Austin Greig won 3-0 (6-1, 6-3, 6-2. In another exhibition match, Dan Condon and Neil Schmaus lost 1-0 (6-0).
