‘Dogs bite ELC again
LEMARS – The Estherville Lincoln Central girls tennis team took on LeMars for the second night in a row on Tuesday. Although ELC’s lineup changed, the results were the same as Monday with the Bulldogs winning 6-3.
At the No. 1 singles, Stephanie Wittmer lost to Samantha Rich 10-1.
Sarah Chrestiansen moved up to the No. 2 singles where she lost to Caitlin Bauerly 10-6.
ELC’s Erin Olson moved up two slots to the No. 3 singles where she won 10-5 over Amelia Stonesifer. Kaylene Vos lost 103 to Amanda Miller, but Emily Swalve picked up a 10-3 win over Emily Switalski. In the final singles match, Morgan Kirchner lost 10-4 to Erica Westhoff.
In doubles, Wittmer and Chrestiansen lost 10-1 to Rich and Stonesifer; Olson and Vos lost 10-4 to bauerly and Miller with Swalve and Kirchner picking up a 10-7 win over Switalski and Westhoff.
“I’m impressed with how the girls battled,” said ELC coach Larry Kirchner. “Stephanie had another tough match with Samantha Rich, who is just good.”
He also said Olson and Swalve played well in their wins.
The ELC junior varsity won 7-2 over the Bulldogs.
In singles, Michelle Wedebrand won 8-3, Trisha Nelson won 8-3, Erin Kirchner lost 8-4, Molly Martens won 9-7, Liz Olson lost 8-4 and Kelsey McCauley won 8-2. In doubles, Wedebrand and Nelson won8-5; Kirchner and Martens won 8-4 and Laura Fandel and Holly Enerson won 8-6.
Results from a few of the exhibition matches: Megan Rogers and Amanda Heinrichs lost 6-3, Tessa Bernholtz and Heinrichs won 62; Kaylee Schoon and Allison Hevern lost 6-4; Heather Enerson and Rogers won 6-1 and Jessica Lepird and Emily Aanonson lost 6-0.
