LEMARS — The Estherville Lincoln Central boys tennis team couldn’t quite come up with a win against LeMars as the Bulldogs earned a 9-0 sweep on Monday.
Th closst match came at No. 1 singles where Tyler Halstead fell 10-7 to Kyle Koth.
In other singles matches, Jim Mohler lost 10-4 to Anthony Schimek; Joe Woodward lost 10-0 to Eric Janssen; Phil Leffel lost 10-2 to Tyler Petty; Adam Mustard lost 10-2 to Nick Gerth and Seth Origer lost 10-5 to Zach Lancaster.
ELC picked up a few more games in doubles play, but LeMars came out on top.
Halstead and Mohler lost 10-5 to Koth and Schimek; Woodward and Leffel lost 10-6 to Janssen and Petty and Mustard and Origer lost 10-2 to Gerth and Lancaster.
The ELC junior varsity didn’t fare much better with the Bulldogs pulling out an 8-0 win.
Tom Markeson, Cody Jackson and Roger Breaman all lost 8-0; Nate Jensen lost 8-5, Matt Hansen lost 8-3 and Josh Keeler lost 8-1.
In doubles, Jackson and Breaman lost 8-1, Hansen and Keeler lost 8-4 and Jensen and Kevin Kuemper lost 8-6.
ELC picked up a few wins in singles exhibition play.
Mike Radig posted a 6-0, 6-4 win; Riley Curry split 4-6, 6-1; Schuyler Webb split, 1-6,6-2 and Aaron Lindell split 6-1, 4-6.
Also, Dan Condon lost 6-0, 6-2, Andrew Schmidt lost 6-5, 6-5 and Neil Schmaus lost 6-0.
