ELC golfs better on home course

The Estherville Lincoln Central boys golf team shot one of its best scores of the season at home on Thursday, but still lagged behind Algona and Spirit Lake.

Algona won with a 166 followed by Spirit Lake with 169 and ELC with 174.

Algona’s Ben Kern won a one-hole playoff against Spirit Lake’s Andrew Ingvalson to earn medalist honors. Both shot 39s.

ELC was led by Matt Brown with a 41 with Nathan Spoo carding a 43, Mat Radig a 44 and Tyson Eggers a 46.

Non-counting scores were a 48 by Matt Anderson and a 52 from Adam McCarthy.

Spirit Lake’s other counting scores included a 40 by Jackson Johnson, Alex Will with a 44 and Casey Early with a 46.

Non-counting scores were a pair of 47s by Jack Lorch and Matt Weeks.

The ELC junior varsity earned its first win of the season. ELC shot a 192 with Algona carding a 194 and Spirit Lake a 195.

Tyson Enerson shot a 43, Caleb Caboth had a 46, Tyler Lutz had a 48 and Andrew Swalve shot a 55.
