Special Olympics State Qualifiers
Holly Jane Kusserow Smidt, north area director of Iowa Special Olympics announced the Estherville Parks and Recreation team’s 2008 state qualifying athletes for the Summer Games.
Due to inclement weather, the district competition in track and field and aquatics was canceled.
The qualifiers were selected by their times sent in for district competition.
Those qualifying in track and field events are:
John Bunge – 50-meter walk.
Bruce Dubberke – softball throw
Ryan Etherington – 100meter run, shot put and 4×100 relay
Ryan Foster – 4×100 relay
Jesse Hatland – 100-meter run, shot put and 4×100 relay
Todd West – 100-meter run, softball throw and 4×100-meter relay
Lynda Hart – 100-meter walk
Sandy Porter – 50-meter walk
Ashley Stubbs 30-meter motorized slalom and 30-meters motorized straight
Krystal Tendal – 50-meter walk
Swimming qualifiers are:
Connor Probst – 25-meter freestyle and 100-meter relay
Mack Torres – 100-meter freestyle, 100-meter backstroke and 100-meter relay
Alex Torres – 25-meter freestyle, 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter relay
Ryan Williams – 100 freestyle, 25-meter backstroke and 100-meter relay
Chelsey Moffitt – 50-meter freestyle, 50-meter backstroke and 100-meter relay
Kristina Prentice – 25-meter freestyle and 100-meter relay
Kelsey Shirk – 25-meter backstroke and 100-meter relay
Desirea Schuder – 10-meter relay.
All athletes will participate in the summer games at Iowa State University in Ames May 22-24.
Athletes will also compete in soccer, tennis and bocce.
