SPENCER — The Estherville Lincoln Central girls golf team finished sixth at the Spencer Invite on Saturday.

“We were missing two of our top thre players, but this gave a couple of other girls the opportunity to play in an 18-hole meet,” said ELC coach Kevin Richardson.

The Midgettes’ Macy Milburn finished among the top eight individually to earn medalist honors in the 18-hole tournament.

Milburn shot 58 on the front nine, but came back with a 45 on the back nine to finish with a 103.

“Macy had a rough start, but came back with an outstanding 45 on the back nine,” said Richardson. “This was a good learning experience for her to not get down and struggle through a few holes and see you can still succeed.”

Paige Evans was next on the score card with a 116 after rounds of 60 and 56. Taylor Heinrichs shot a 123 on rounds of 56 and 67. Krista Lowe shot a 126 on rounds of 60 and 66.

“Paige and Krista put together two nice rounds of us,” said Richardson. “I am not sure Krista has played 18 holes before and to do it on such a cold, windy day, she did a great job.

“Taylor had a solid front nine and then got a little worn down by the cold and 18 holes,” he said.

Non-counting scores were a 132 by Katie Lowe and a 134 by Brooke Johnson.

Spencer came out on top with a 396 followed by Sioux City North with 415, Sioux City Heelan with 419, Carroll Kuemper with 426, Denison with 451, ELC with 468, Algona with 473, Storm Lake with 497 and Spencer Gold with 508.
