Midgettes earn all-conference in four events

The Estherville Lincoln Central girls track team had strong performances to earn a few all-conference honors at the Lakes meet on Monday.

Junior Emily Jensen had the lone top finish as she won the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 25.78 seconds.

Second-place finishes also earned all-conference honors.

Jensen anchored the second-place distance medley which included Taylar Jacobson, Brenna Wegner and Landra Lapka/ They finished in 4:23.48.

Brittany Ross added two more second place finishes as she finished the 3000-meter run in 11:36.50 and the 1500-meter run in 5:12.89.

“Emily ran lights out. She ran four races and did well in all of them,” said ELC coach Tina Burton. “Brittany also had her best night of the season so far.”

Christina Weston finished fifth in the shot put with a toss of 35 feet even.

Also fifth was the sprint medley team of Jacobson, Wegner, Lapka and jensen in 1:56.86.

The 4×400-meter relay team of Jensen, Jacobson, Ross and Lapka finished sixth in 4:23.85.

Also Brooke Egeland finished sixth in the 3000 in 12:25.88.

ELC travels to the Class 3A meet in Orange City on Friday to see what events the team can qualify for state.

“Hopefully we have a chance in the shot put, distance medley and open 800, 1500 and 3000,” said Burton.
