Milburn medals to lead ELC at Lakes
SPIRIT LAKE — Macy Milburn placed fourth at the 2008 Lakes Conference Girls Golf Tournament, leading the Midgettes to a fourth-place finish overall.
Milburn, who kept closing in on a nine-hole round under 50, put two such rounds together. She shot a 47 on the front nine and a 46 on the back nine for a 93.
“We put a little pressure on her today to do welland make all conference,” said ELC coach Kevin Richardson. “She handled it well and did a wonderful job.”
Richardson said all the ELC players shot their best 18-hole scores.
Second on the team was senior Jordan Jacobson with a 109 on rounds of 52 and 57.
“Jordan has only played in one 18-hole meet before,” said Richardson.
Taylor Heinrichs carded a 110 with two nine-hole rounds of 55. Paige Evans shot a 55 and 58 for a 113 to round out the scoring.
Non-counting scores were a 114 from Megan Woods and a 119 by Krista Lowe.
Spirit Lake won with a 377 followed by Spencer with 387, Emmetsburg with 403 and ELC with 425. Cherokee was fifth with 445 followed by Sheldon with 453, Storm Lake with 459, LeMars with 487 and Western Christian with 492.
Spencer’s Emily Holck was the individual conference champion as she carded an 81.
