Spencer netters too much for ELC

Spencer had too much firepower for Estherville Lincoln Central in a Lakes Conference boys tennis dual on Monday.

The Tigers swept ELC 9-0.

In singles play, Tyler Halstead lost 10-0 to Chris Lensing; Jim Mohler lost 10-4 to Sascha Shulz; Joe Woodward lost 10-3 to Joey Toale; Phil Leffel lost 10-2 to Chris Jones; Adam Mustard lost 10-1 to Taylor Harman and Seth Origer lost 10-0 to Jon Gabhart.

In doubles play, Halstead and Mohler lost 10-2 to Lensing and Toale; Woodward and Leffel lost 10-0 to Shulz and Jones; and Mustard and Origer lost 10-1 to Harman and Greg Anderson.

The ELC junior varsity picked up two wins in a 7-2 loss.

In singles, Matt Hansen won 8-1. In doubles, Roger Breaman and Josh Keeler won 8-6.

In other singles matches, Adam Gellert lost 8-4; Tom Markeson lost 8-0; Cody Jackson lost 8-1; Breaman lost 8-2; and Nate Jensen lost 9-8 (9-7).

In doubles, Jackson and Hansen lost 8-1 and Jensen and Kevin Kuemper lost 8-3.
