Armstrong-Ringsted sends five athletes to state
LAURENS — The Armstrong-Ringsted boys track team will send five representatives in three events to the 2008 Class 1A track meet following district competition at Laurens on Saturday.
Brett Tigges jumped a career-best 6-foot in the high jump to qualifying that event.
He, along with shuttle hurdle teammates Dillin McBride, Craig Tigges nad Ethan Eisenbacher, also earned a state berth by finishing second in 1 minute, 1.44 seconds.
Tyler Tonderum ran his best time of the seasonn in the 100-meter dash, 11.29 seconds, to qualify for state n that event for the second straight year.
He came up short in the 200-meter dash, finishing third in 23.42 seconds.
With 12 districts in Class 1A, only the top two in each district earn a trip to state.
The A-R 4×100-meter relay team of Morten Vermehren, Brett Tigges, McBride and Tonderum also finished third in 46.37 seconds.
Other placewinners included a sixth-place finish in the medley relay with Tonderum, Travis Hantelmen, Vermehren and Spencer Taylor racing to sixth in 1:03.50 and a sixth-place finish inteh 4×200-meter relay with McBride, Hantelman, Logan Anderson and Brett Tigges clockin in at 1:41.26.
