The Iowa Lakes Community College Softball team will begin its quest for a national title Thursday, May 15, at 12 p.m. The Lakers will play Kankakee Community College, located in Kankakee, Ill., for their first game of the tournament, which is being held in Normal, Ill.

The Lakers, 54-11, are coming off four straight wins in the Region XI Tournament. Kankakee, 42-9, defeated College of Lake County to win their region.

A win for the Lakers will move them into the championship bracket where they will play at 4 p.m. the same day against Sauk Valley Community College. With a loss, the Lakers would move into the consolation bracket and would play at 6 p.m. Thursday.

“We have a tough draw, but I think our schedule has prepared our team for the competition we will face,” said coach Mike Bosch. “A national stage is exciting for our program.”
