DES MOINES — The Spirit Lake Park girls track team finished up the 2008 state meet with three more medals on Saturday.

Megan Lawler grabbed two of them.

The sophomore speedster, who had qualified Thursday for Saturday’s finals in the 100 and 200, had an outstanding day.

In the 100-meter dash, she placed fourth in 12.92 seconds and then added a sixth-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 26.96 seconds.

The Indians other medal came in the 4×400-meter relay as senior Kaisha Brown and sophomores Alex Horsman, McKenzie Dziedzic and Deni Peters took eighth-place in 4:13.58.

The Indians did face a little disappointed.

The team’s sprint medley team of Horsman, Lindsey Arneson, Kylie Ingvall and Peters just missed a medal, placing ninth in 1:53.31.

Other finishes on Saturday for the girls–Brown finished 18th in the 800-meter run in 2:25.98 and Carrie Emgarten placed 20th in the 1500-meter run in 5:20.52.

The SLP boys team had one final event on Saturday. Tyler Gustafson placed 17th in the 1600-meter run in 4:40.98.
