DES MOINES — Junior Emily Jensen ran the final event for the Estherville Lincoln Central’s girls track team this past Saturday.

Jensen, a two-event qualifier this season, competed in the 800-meter run where she finished 15th in 2 minutes, 24.73 seconds.

“It was another good experience,” said Jensen, who has one more season to try to pick up a medal or more.

While the ELC state qualifiers didn’t come up with a medal this year, their times were consistent.

“We went down with high hopes and we had successes we can be proud of,” said ELC coach Tina Burton.

The distance medley team of Taylar Jacobson, Brenna Wegner, Landra Lapka and Jensen went in rated 13th and finished 11th on Friday.

“Brittany Ross had a personal best in the 3000 and for (shot putter) Christina (Weston) she gained experience,” said Burton. “Next year she’ll be prepared.”

Wegner and Lapka were both seniors, but the rest return to try to do better next year.
