Errors costly to Knights

CRYSTAL LAKE — Errors proved costly in Graettinger/Terril’s first game of the year.

The Knights trailed just 5-4 with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

According to coach Jared Cecil, his players failed to catch an infield pop-up for the third out. That gave North Iowa another chance and they scored five runs to put the game away 10-4.

“As with all games, it’s a game of details,” said Cecil. “We didn’t execute defensively like we needed to.”

The Knights did have a respectable outing from pitcher Taylor Harris, who struck out 11 batters and walked three while giving up eight hits.

However, G/T only had six hits.

Cody Dyhrkopp was 2-2 with a double and a walk, Tayler Leiting was 2-3 with a triple and two RBIs, Harris was 1-2 and Drew Skattebo was 1-3.

“Offensively, we’ve got to find some consistency,” said Cecil. “But work working hard and looking to improve.”

The Knights host Corwith-Wesley-Luverne Wednesday in a doubleheader.
