Indians split at Orab tournament

SHELDON — The Spirit Lake softball team splits its two games at the Sheldon Tournament on Saturday.

In a 17-0 win over Charter Oak-Ute, Mary Brown pitched a perfect game. She had six strikeouts.

The Indians didn’t have a lot of hits, but they came at key times. Caila Jones was 2-2 with three RBIs, Alli Gerking was 1-1 with a triple and four RBIs, Kori Heidebrink was 1-2 with a double and two RBIs and Megan Ingvall was 1-2 with a triple. Briana Brunsvold, Kylie Ingvall and Emily Mercer each had an RBI.

Spirit Lake then had to take on No. 3 Sergeant Bluff-Luton where they lost 7-3.

Brown took the loss as she struck out nine batters, walked four and gave up four hits.

The Indians only had four hits with Brunsvold, Heidebrink and Kaisha Brown each going 1-3 while Mary Brown was 1-4.
