Mustangs suffer first loss of ‘08
ARMSTRONG — The Armstrong-Ringsted baseball team lost its first game of the season, 10-4 defeat at the hands of Clay Central-Everly on Monday.
The visiting Mavericks took a 4-0 lead after a three-run fourth inning with the Mustangs rallying with three runs in the bottom of the inning.
The score was still 4-3 entering the sixth, but the Mavericks scored three runs each in the sixth and seventh to just one run in the sixth for A-R.
“Our defense was solid. Clay Central-Everly just hit the ball well,” said A-R coach Ryan Luedtke.
The Mustangs scattered nine hits through seven innings with Brett Tigges going 3-3 with two doubles and two RBIs.
Logan Anderson was 1-2 with a double and an RBI and Shaun Ash was 1-3 with a double and an RBI.
Ridge Christiansen took the loss for A-R. He pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up eight hits with with one walk and no strikeouts.
Ethan Eisenbacher closed out the game giving up two hits with one strikeout.
A-R (2-1, 1-1) was home against Lake Mills on Tuesday. The Mustangs travel to Graettinger today.
