It appears errors may have a big impact on who wins the Lakes Conference this season in a league with several good teams.

After losing on an error to Storm Lake on Monday, Estherville Lincoln Central put together two straight wins scoring key runs on errors.

On Tuesday, the Midgettes simply scored an insurance run when Melanie Bandow scored on a two-error play.

Wednesday, Erin Beardsley scored on Spencer’s error for a 3-2 ELC victory.

Tied 2-2 heading into the seventh inning, Beardsley led off with a long single. Brenna Wegner attempted the sacrifice bunt with the Tigers’ throw off the mark down the first-base line. That allowed Beardsley to score for the win.

ELC shut down the Tigers after giving up two runs in the top of the first inning.

The Midgettes tied the game in the third inning. Maggie Asman led off with a bloop single over the second baseman’s head. That was followed by a single to Taylar Jacobson and a walk to Beardsley to load the bases.

Wegner hit a grounder to short, who threw home for the force. But then Bandow hit a grounder to the second baseman who made a poor throw for first. That allowed by Jacobson and Beardsley to score. Christa Clayton then drew a walk to load the bases again, but the Tigers got out of the inning with a double play.

At the plate for ELC, Wegner was 2-4, Jacobson was 2-3 and Asman and Beardsley were both 1-3.

Amanda Christensen earned the win on the mound. She gave up five hits while striking out six batters and walking two.

ELC (9-2, 4-1) hosts LeMars today.
