A-R pounds Bison in five
BUFFALO CENTER — Tied 3-3 after three innings, the Armstrong-Ringsted baseball team erupted for 12 runs in the fourth inning on the way to a 20-9, five-inning victory over host North Iowa on Wednesday.
Logan Anderson went the distance for the Mustangs. he pitched all five innings, giving up four hits with one strikeout. A nine Bison runs were earned.
At the plate, Dillion McBride was 2-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and a stolen base, Ridge Christiansen was 2-4 with an RBI, a double and a stolen base, Spencer Clausen was 1-3 with a home run and four RBIS and Tyler Tonderum was 2-5 with a double, three RBIs and two stolen bases.
Pioneers pummel Spirit Lake, 18-8
MILFORD — Spirit Lake’s 3-0 lead last as long as it took Okoboji batters to get to the plate.
The host Pioneers scored 12 runs in the bottom of the first inning on the way to an 18-8 win over the Indians on Thursday.
Okoboji pounded Spirit Lake for 15 hits including five home runs.
Kyle Heidebrink pitched only two-thirds of an inning in the loss. He gave up nine runs, eight earned, with four walks.
Mitch Peschon went 2 1/2 innings and Derrick Miner pitched one inning. They combined to give up 11 hits, three walks with four strikeouts.
The Indians hit the ball well with 11 tallied in the game.
Miner was 3-4 with an RBI, T.J. Johnson was 3-3 with an RBI, Ethan Carlson, Brad Engel, Heidebrink and Shae Heinrichs each had one hit.
Spirit Lake hosts Emmetsburg on Friday and travels to the North Iowa Tournament today.
