Mustangs pitch shut out against Wolves

LAKE PARK — The Armstrong-Ringsted softball team pitched its second straight shut Cornbelt Conference shut out with a 6-0 win over Harris-Lake Park on Monday.

Starter Amy Leach struck out 10 and walked two while giving up just two hits in the win.

The Mustangs scored the first run in the second inning when Megan Sanders single, stole second and scored on a triple by Brianne Gonzales.

Taking a 3-0 lead into the seventh, A-R plated three insurance runs as Julie Neppel drew a walk and Lisa Pelzer singled.

Morgan Grabinoski laid down the sacrifice bunt to advance the runners and April Gunderson delivered a two-run single. Gunderson reached second on an error and Logan Evans came up with an RBI single for the final tally.

At the plate, Pelzer was 3-4, Gunderson was 2-4 with two RBIs, Evans was 1-4 with an RBI, Sanders was 1-3 with an RBI and Gonzales was 1-3 with a triple.

A-R (9-1, 5-1) are at Pocahontas on Wednesday.
