HARTLEY — The Graettinger/Terril softball team lost a heartbreaker in non-conference action Thursdays as Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn won 4-3.

The Knights tailed 3-1 heading into the top of the fifth inning.

Jennie Mart led off with a single and an error allowed her to go to second.

Liz Sparks then singled and courtesy runner Morgan Matthews scored on a fielder’s choice when Dakota Hovinga hit a ball back to the pitcher.

A bad throw from first to home allowed Sparks to score on the play.

However, the home team scored the game-winner in the bottom of the sixth.

Sparks had a base hit with one out in the seventh, but the Knights couldn’t plate the run.
