SPIRIT LAKE — Despite out-hitting Storm Lake 5-3, Spirit Lake came up on the short end in a 2-0 loss on Thursday

“This was a great softball game,” said Spirit Lake coach Joleen Brown. “The difference in the game is that Storm Lake had timely hitting–allowing them to make the most of each hit.

The Tornadoes plated one run in the second and the seventh innings.

Mary Brown took the loss as she struck out six and walked one.

At the plate, Alli Gerking was 2-3 with a stolen base, Kylie Ingvall was 1-3 with a double, Megan Ingvall was 1-3 with a stolen base and Leah Hilpipre was 1-3.

Storm Lake had two runs on three hits with one error.

Spirit Lake had five hits and one error.

“Overall, the Indians need to continue to hit the ball hard and put it in play,” the coach said. “Tonight the team that did the little things correctly won.”

Spirit Lake is at the George-Little Rock Tournament today.
