Indians split at G-LR tourney
GEORGE — After losing 20-2 to Central Lyon in the first game at the George-Little-Rock Tournament, the Spirit Lake baseball team bounced back with a 10-8 win over George-Little Rock.
In game one, Tyler Dean pitched 1/2 innings, giving up nine hits and one walk with one strikeout.
At the plate, Derrick Miner, TJ Johnson and Shae Heinrichs each had a hit.
Against George-Little Rock, both teams scored early and often with the Indians leading 10-6 after three innings.
Mitch Peschon earned the win on the mound. In five innings, he struck out three batters, walked none and gave up three hits.
Kyle Heidebrink closed out the game, striking out two batters, walking two and giving up two hits.
At the plate, Ryan Jennings was 2-3, Peschon was 1-2 with two RBIs, Ethan Carlson was 1-2 with two RBIs and Heidebrink was 1-3 with an RBI.
On Friday, Spirit Lake lost 9-1 to Storm Lake. The Tornadoes led just 4-1 after three innings, but scored two insurance runs in the fifth and three in the seventh.
Derrick Miner took the loss. In five innings, he gave up six hits and five walks while striking out three batters. Heidebrink pitched one inning, giving up one hit with one strikeout and one walk.
Peschon also pitched an inning, giving up three hits and striking out one batter.
