Knights come up big in the seventh
LAKE PARK — Graettinger/Terril’s Hailley Nelson, Theresa Petersen and Nikki Brown all came up with key hits in the seventh inning to help the Knights to a 5-4 win over Harris-Lake Park on Monday.
Trailing 4-3, Nelson led off with a single and stole second. She went to third when Lindsay Flaharty grounded out to the pitcher.
Petersen hit an RBI single up the middle to bring in the run. With two outs, Brown also sent the ball up the middle for a single.
The Knights’ defense stepped up in the bottom of the inning as the Wolves went down in order on three groundouts.
Coach Jana Hector said second baseman Liz Sparks had an excellent night fielding.
Although starter Malorie Girres gave up hits, she had no walks and struck out four batters in the win.
Petersen had the hot bat as she was 4-4 with two RBIs, Tasha Neilson was 2-3 with a run and Brown was 2-4 with an RBI.
G/T (4-8, 4-3) is at Ruthven-Ayrshire on Wednesday.
