G/T struggles versus R-A
RUTHVEN — Graettinger/Terril struggled in its doubleheader with Ruthven-Ayrshire on Wednesday as the Knights dropped both games, 15-7 and 10-8.
In game one, the hits were scarce and the errors to plentiful.
“Other than Dalton Perrin, we did not hit the ball very well getting only four hits,” said G/T coach Jared Cecil. “Defensively, we gave them too many chances with the errors we made.”
Perrin was 2-3 with two home runs and six RBIs.
Drew Skattebo was -3 and Dalton Park was 1-4.
Tyler Leiting pitched all six innings, giving up eight hits, only five earned runs, with seven strikeouts and five walks.
In game two, the Knights gave up eight runs in the second inning and were down 10-0 heading into the fourth.
That’s when the Knights offense kicked in with a grand slam home run by Cody Dyhrkopp followed by a solo shot from Taylor harris.
“We hit the ball a lot better, but we let ourselves get in too deep of a hole to make the come back,” said Cecil.
Dyhrkopp pitched all four innings giving up 12 hits with three strikeouts and two walks.
G/T (5-8, 2-3) hosts Twin River Valley today in a doubleheader.
